Mayfair's best hotels

Everyone lusted after purple sites on the Monopoly board and people dream of living in Mayfair to this day. The most expensive property on the game board is also one of the most expensive real estate areas in the entire world. This slice of London, from Hyde Park to Regent Street, Oxford Street to Piccadilly contains London’s most exclusive properties.

Mayfair also happens to be home to some of the most prominent, well-known, elegant and exclusive hotels in the world. Here are three of the best.

Millennium Hotel London Mayfair

Grosvenor Square, perhaps the most prestigious location – bar Buckingham Palace – in all of London. It’s here you’ll find one of the best hotels in Mayfair and it comes from Millennium Hotels (click the link to take a look for yourself). This huge Georgian mansion is exquisite. The exterior boast regal columns and stunning, white masonry and large windows front this symmetrical masterpiece.

The ceiling decorations, including boarders and roses in the lobby are particularly noteworthy and the furniture throughout is in keeping with the style and period of the building. The restaurant ‘Shogun’ has been awarded two AA Rosettes for the high quality of its food. This truly is a spectacular hotel, with impeccable service and attention to detail.

There is nothing more English than afternoon tea at Claridges and that says it all about this English institution. Dating back to1854 this hotel has a lot of history. But don’t think that means it’s stuck in the past. Oh no; behind that Victorian exterior, luxurious 1920s’ furniture, grand staircases and wood panelling is a very modern hotel, most notably in its award-winning Michellin-star restaurant run by none other than the F-Word man himself, Gordon Ramsay. The hotel is one of the best examples of Art Deco architecture in the UK, which has been tiresomely maintained and elegantly styled.

The Dorchester

Celebrating 80 years of service this year, the Dorchester is one of the world’s most famous hotels. It’s Park Lane location overlooking Hyde Park has helped cement its leading reputation, but the real reason it has won top spots on numerous best hotel lists is the service, the level of luxury and intimacy it offers its guests and its award and accolade-winning spa, restaurants and bars. It has cultivated an exclusive reputation among celebrities, royalty and leaders of state and truly is a force to be reckoned with
